A beautiful frame is a result of artwork, mats, glass, and other equipments used to create a representation of one's creativity, and personality. The best designing work and color coordination make a frame a work of art to be long lasting. One's art work gives justice to the frames to give real and marvelous look. Equipments and materials to be used Sharp pencil, notebook for measurement and calculations, retractable tape measure, metal ruler, sharp knife, mitre saw or guillotine, bounding tape thing, corner tacking gun, oil filled glass cutter, cotton gloves, square and right angle ruler based cutter, matt board, glass, frame material, foam core, wood glue, pins, eyelets, nylon cord. Steps The picture framing is all about understanding one's own choices and planning in well manner. The following are steps to create one's own picture frame. 1. Color and frame selection - For conservative approach, off-whites and neutral colors for matting and frames; and for adventurous approach, go for a strong secondary color according to the frame and matt. It also depends on the place to be frame hanged. 2. Measurements and calculations - This step focuses on measuring and calculating the artwork size, matt window size, matt border size, and frame size. 3. Creating a frame - Do the sanity check measurements. Make clean and accurate cut. Undercut the edge to ensure tight fit on corner. Place frame in right place using masking tape temporarily. Check frame's right shape and size by placing frame over the artwork. Add glue to edges. Tape them. Use band to hold frame in place. Check the tightening of the frame edges. Check for staples length pushing through the frame. 4. Matting - Matting means the process of window cut material to be placed around an image within frame. These materials can be made of paper, cotton and fabric with several colors. This step makes the overall size of the finished piece larger and a correct placement of the art and the frame. 5. Glazing - It is the process of covering the art work using glass or acrylic material. The glasses may be regular clear glasses, anti reflective, non glare or conservative. 6. Final assembly - Clean the glass. Join all the pieces. Check front look. Pin down the back side. Check for the secured hanging cord. |
